The Slough Fashion Upcycle Competition is an annual event that showcases the talent and creativity of individuals within the Borough of Slough. Each year, participants are given the opportunity to breathe new life into pre-loved materials by transforming them into stunning wearable treasure.

The competition features two categories: one for ages 13-19 and another for ages 20 and over. The theme for the 2024 competition was "Reimagine, Repurpose, and Rewear." The second annual competition took place on Saturday, 7th September 2024, in the heart of Slough High Street.

Jasmin Anyanwu and Harini Subbiah won second place with a £75 gift voucher.

This year's winner for the under-19 category is 13-year-old Shyla Miseer, who crafted a beautiful Indian-inspired two-piece outfit from an old and damaged sari. Her inspiration was to create something different: a modernized version of the traditional outfit, but ensuring it remained practical. Her skills were rewarded with a £100 JD gift voucher.

Nicky Hughes claimed victory for the 20 and over category and was rewarded with a £100 Tesco voucher.

The event not only highlighted the importance of sustainable fashion but also brought together people of all ages and backgrounds in Slough.
