MORE than 60 people have objected to plans for 75 homes in Bloxham.
They said the plan would damage the village’s character and put too much pressure on roads.
Gladman Developments has applied to build the homes at land off Barford Road.
Cherwell District Council will make a final decision.
Gascoigne Way resident Jennifer Kane told the council: “It is already known that both the primary and secondary schools are at capacity and the local health services are stretched.”
Stone Hill resident Jennifer Hall said: “The High Street, with its few shops, is far too congested at present, with a lack of car parking. Anyone living in the new development would drive to the shops as it is too far to walk.”
But the developer said the plans would help the council meet Government housing targets, which it is missing.
It said: “Bloxham has been identified as one of the most sustainable villages in the district where new development is appropriate.”
It has applied for the principle of building the homes and would need further permission on issues such as design.
