DEDDINGTON was named large village of the year in the Cherwell category of the Oxfordshire village of the year competition.
The event is organised by Oxfordshire Rural Community Council (ORCC) and sponsored by Calor.
Participating villages were judged on various aspects of village life. including community projects, business, environment, affordable housing, and information communication technology.
At a ceremony in Tackley Village Hall last week, Brian Gardner, of Calor, presented vice-chairman of Deddington Parish Council Jim Flux with £250 and a framed commemorative certificate.
Runners-up in the Cherwell section were Cropredy and Steeple Aston, who both received £100.
