BANBURY Jazz Club's monthly sessions are back after a six-month break, which was due to illness.
Club organiser Pete Lay has been unable to run the club during his spell of ill health, but he announced this week that he is fully recovered, and that the club would resume on Sunday October 15.
He said: "I was very much under the weather and could not continue booking artists, doing the publicity, and all the other things that go with running a club.
"For the past few weeks I have been on the up, and I think the time is right to start again."
Mr Lay said: "The restart date coincides with the club's 39th anniversary, and I want to do 40 years at least - and then find someone to take over when I retire."
He said old and new members should note the new time. The club will continue at the Banbury House Hotel in Oxford Road, but will now be on the third Sunday of every month, from 7.30pm to 10pm in an upstairs room with no pillars and no smoking.
Mr Lay said: "It is not a members only club. Anyone can come and pay at the door on the night.
"The first night will feature the PL Quartet, and next month, on November 19, we will have one of the best jazz guitarists Terry Huchins and his quartet.
Admission is £7, with concessions including over 60s paying £6.
