STAFF and customers at Morrison's supermarket in Banbury have raised over £1,000 for the Save the Horton Hospital campaign.
The cheque was presented to supporters of the Horton, represented by local councillor George Parish. He was handed the money by Mary Prentice - who came up with the idea of collecting cash. Mr Parish said: "This is a fantastic sum. We always need money to help continue our campaign. We have to rent rooms for meetings and there are printing and other expenses. This will be used wisely and effectively."
Mrs Prentice said: "We put buckets at the check-out tills and the £1,044 was collected in just five days. It just goes to show how much support there is in the town for the Save the Horton campaign."
She added: "The collection could not have happened without the permission of store manager Steve Anderson. Morrison's always support a national charity and this is the first time a Morrison's store has done something like this for a local good cause."
