Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle in TV soap Emmerdale, will switch on this year’s Banbury Christmas lights.
He will push the button at 5.30pm at the Town Hall on November 27.
The event will begin at midday and will include a fairground in Market Place and a Christmas market in Cornhill.
Local bands Neva Mynd and High Jinx will join tribute act Abba Fever to provide musical entertainment and fireworks will close the event.
Father Christmas will make an appearance on his float and stilt walkers will bring further festive cheer.
Tina Wren, chairman of Banbury Town Council’s Christmas lights committee, said: “This year we will be providing another superb switch on for the town in the build up to the switching on of the Christmas lights.
“We still welcome contact from any businesses wishing to offer sponsorship.”
