Eighteen jobs have been created thanks to the opening of a new Tesco Express store in Middleton Road, Banbury.
More than 100 people have applied for positions in the mini supermarket, which opened at the former Buffalo Bills pub site on Tuesday.
Store manager Steve Roberts said: “I was overwhelmed by the huge response we received to our recruitment drive. In this time of economic uncertainty, it is great that we are able to create jobs and help get people back into work.
“I am really pleased with my new team and I’m looking forward to working with my new staff.
“We are delighted to be opening a Tesco Express store on Middleton Road, and look forward to playing an active role in the local community.”
Staff and pupils from Banbury School got a £500 boost from the new store when they cut the ribbon to officially open the shop.
