People are being urged to roll up for the fifth annual party in the park at the Lucy Plackett Playing Field, Adderbury, and sign up for the Anthony Nolan Trust.
At this year’s event the charity will be recruiting bone marrow donors in the hope a match can be found for nursery nurse Lauren Gladden, of Adderbury, who needs a transplant.
Karen Archer, the charity’s donor recruitment manager for the region said: “Just 30 per cent of patients who need a bone marrow transplant will find a matching donor from within their families, leaving the rest to rely on strangers.
“A transplant is usually the last hope of survival in the fight against leukaemia and other blood-related disorders and there are 16,000 people worldwide waiting to find their match.”
People need to be aged between 18 and 40 to register, and people just give a small saliva sample.
The event kicks off at 2pm, on Saturday, till 11pm, and there will be performances from locals, including The Duckworths, Jossie Evans, and Every Hippies Dream, Fork Handles, Dickie White All Stars, the Hookey Band, Verona Kings, wRants, the Scholars and Leatherat.
There will also be a children’s fairground, stalls and refreshments. For more information view adderburyevents.co.uk
