A DAYCENTRE for adults with learning disabilities is to be officially re-opened on Wednesday.
The Redlands Centre, in Neithrop Avenue, Banbury, which is run by Oxfordshire County Council, has been given a £379,000 facelift.
The newly-refurbished building offers a wide range of activities, from cooking to musical stimulation, and includes a new sensory room, extra changing room, a TV room, and improved offices for staff.
The centre now accommodates a learning disability team and a special transport department as well as the day service.
The re-opening, by town mayor John Donaldson, will be part of an open day at which families and carers will be invited to tour the new facilities and talk to staff.
Information will also be available about respite services provided by the county council's partner, the Learning Disability Trust, and about Direct Payments a scheme which enables people to choose and organise their own care provider.
Redlands' assistant manager Martin Hole said: "We're delighted with our new facilities and the new decor. It's really brightened things up for our clients and given them a huge boost.
"We're very much looking forward to meeting families and carers and would urge anyone who is caring for someone with learning disabilities, and wants to know more about the services available, to join us on our open day."
Anyone who would like to know more about day services for adults with learning disabilities but cannot make the open day should ring the learning disability team on 01295 257727.
