PLACES are available for young people interested in trying out cartoon animation, turning their ideas into a comic or creating a computer game.
Animation Station, now based at the new sixth form media centre at Chenderit School, Middleton Cheney, is offering three courses for ten to 16-year-old this Easter.
Starting with ‘Crazy Cartoon’ workshop on April 6 and 7, young people can try their hand at drawn cartoon animation as used by experts including Walt Disney.
Comic Capers takes place on Thursday and Friday, April 8 and 9, where pupils get the chance to create stories in the comic book style of Batman and Marvel graphic novels.
Then on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 13 and 14, budding computer game designers can join Get Gaming where students used the latest software to create basic games for computers and mobile phones.
The two-day course, 10am to 4pm, costs £50, no previous experience necessary.
Animation Station, previously under the wing of Cherwell District Council, now operates as an independent arts organisation in partnership with Chenderit School.
Headteacher Graham Tyrer said: “This represents a wonderful opportunity to showcase the new and exciting resources of the school while providing a unique opportunity for young people and the community to take advantage of these facilities through extended learning, holiday and evening workshops.
“Working with Animation Station will help widen the appeal of the school while providing valuable insight into the role of the arts and creative industries and help develop further educational and career opportunities for young people.”
