PUPILS from Brackley Junior School have been chosen to sing in the Schools' Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, London, next Wednesday.
A 50-strong group from the school will join 400 other children from Northamptonshire to create a mass choir, which will perform Boris the Baboon by Adam Saunders, and Land of Hope and Glory.
Music teacher Lucy Eatwell said: "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and will be an absolutely unforgettable experience.
"The children have loved preparing for this, and are sounding fantastic.
"Music plays a big part in life at this school. It encourages a terrific community spirit between pupils and makes them proud to be part of the school.
Brackley Round Table has donated £800 to the school to pay for transport costs to London. Tabler Andrew Hornby said: "The money was raised at our annual beer festival in July. We try to get involved with local schools. This is a marvellous project."
School headteacher Katherine Spencer said: "Every child with the ability and desire to sing has been able to participate in this, thanks to the Round Table donation."
The Schools Proms, organised by the Music for Youth charity, celebrate the talents of young musicians, singers, and dancers from across the British Isles.
3,000 young performers come together for three nights of performances of every kind of music, ranging from boy-bands to full orchestras.
Music for Youth is an educational charity with a worldwide reputation. It provides free performance opportunities for young musicians through a series of concerts.
