JASMINE Conway is flying high at Wimbledon after reaching the quarter-final of the Girls’ Singles at the All England Club.

The Oxfordshire teenager received a wildcard into the main draw and started her campaign with impressive straight set victories over Renáta Jamrichová and Ela Nala Milic to progress to the third round.

And it was another highly impressive display by the 17-year-old as she eased to a 6-4 6-1 victory against Hayu Kinoshita to reach the last eight.

Conway is the last Brit standing in the draw but she is refusing to look too far ahead.

“I’m happy to be in the quarter-finals. I didn’t expect to be in the quarter-finals as I hadn’t had a lot of grass court practice,” she said.

“I’m just taking it match-by-match but I’m happy to be in the quarter-finals and I’ll try and do my best.

“I try not to think about it as if you get too ahead of yourself, it takes you away from the process of the matches and what you have to think about in the matches.”

Conway faces 16th seed Linda Klimovicova in the quarter-finals and while the Brit is not too familiar with her Czech opponent, she is looking forward to once again playing in front of home support.

The youngster said: “I’m really enjoying it. I feel like everyone is behind me because I’m British and I played on Court 12 which was a lot bigger for me.

“I think I use their energy to help me and it’s really fun to play here as well.”
