JORDANNE Whiley is one step closer to a second US Open singles crown.
The 13-time Grand Slam winner, who lives in Steventon, beat Momoko Ohtani 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 in the quarter-finals.
It set up a semi-final against doubles partner Yui Kamiji later today.
The defending champions are due to team up in the wheelchair women’s doubles semi-finals this evening, against Ohtani and Colombia’s Angelica Bernal.
It comes a week after Whiley claimed two medals at the Paralympics in Tokyo.
Whiley was singles champion in 2015 and triumphed in the doubles last year and in 2014.
