Oxford United slipped to defeat in their first home match back in the Football League.
In an incredibly open match at the Kassam Stadium, Bury beat them 2-1 although the U's again created a huige number of chances.
Tom Lees gave the Shakers a 26th-minute lead, and although Jack Midson equalised five minutes later, striker Ryan Lowe grabbed a winner on the break 11 minutes from time for the visitors.
United might easily ave been two goals up in ten minutes.
The match had only just begun when referee Steve Tanner intelligently allowed the U's good advantage after Matt Green was obstructed on the left touchline.
With the official allowing play to go on - and we didn't get many refs making good decisions like that in the Conference - Green raced forward only to delay his pass, and Simon Heslop was offside.
Asa Hall then hit a volley straight at goalkeeper Cameron Belford in the fifth minute, when Matt Green headed Anthony Tonkin's free-kick across goal.
And three minutes later, James Constable turned on a sixpence 25 yards out and then smashed a brilliant drive against the crossbar, with Belford well beaten.
But Bury were soon showing what a good passing side they are.
Andy Bishop planted a header over and they were finding space when they broke forward.
The home side continued to put some eye-catching moves together. Midson delivered a cleverly-weighted through pass for Constable, but Belford reached it just before him.
And after slick interplay between Heslop and Midson, Constable fired across the face of the goal.
It needed a fine tackle, tracking back, by Anthony Tonkin, to stop Andy Howarth five yard out.
And then Bury took the lead in the 26th minute. Centre back Tom Lees met Peter Sweeney's free-kick from the right with an angled header at the back post into the bottom corner.
But Oxford were level again just five minutes later.
After sharp play from Asa Hall and Constable, Midson shot low into the net from 12 yards to bring the U's an equaliser they deserved.
The game continued to be very open, and Ryan Clarke saved with his leg when Ryan Lowe backheeled for Michael Jones to shoot from 16 yards.
Chances continued to come at both ends. Constable sliced wide from Constable's pass and keeper Belford saved from a Constable header with Midson seeing his follow-up chip cleared from in front of the goalline by Phil Picken.
In the second half United pressed strongly again, but it wasn't their day.
And Lowe rounded the keeper after taking Andy Howarth's pass, to slot in the winner on 79 minutes.
Even then, the U's laid seige to the Bury goal, but Constable snatched at the best chance on 88 minutes, screwing a shot wide.
