CARLY Johns took home two of the four end of season awards for the Oxford United Women’s side.

Johns was voted by her teammates as the Players’ Player of the Year, as well as being awarded Goal of the Year by the fans for her spectacular effort against AFC Wimbledon.

She told the club website: “At the start of the season, I set myself the aim just to improve both physically and technically, and I think that I have come a long way.

“For that goal against Wimbledon, I decided to get myself into the box and as the ball came in, I knew there was a couple of players around me so I couldn’t really control it on the ground.

“But it just popped up perfectly, I went for the bicycle kick and to my surprise it went in.”

Lauren Haynes claimed the Supporters’ Player of the Year.

The U’s captain said: “We were fortunate to have fans in the stadium during our league campaign, and we were also able to livestream our FA Cup games, so to be voted by the people who have watched us this season as Player of the Year is an honour.”

Georgia Brown won the Young Player of the Season for her performances.
