Red Lion Islip and Northway served up one of the most extraordinary scorelines of all time when they drew 10-10 after extra time in an amazing Oxfordshire FA Sam Waters Sunday Cup first-round tie, writes Tim Siret.
Visitors Northway eventually won the all-Critchley’s UTV League clash 3-1 on penalties to cause an upset against their Division 2 opponents.
The sides shared 16 goals in regulation time. Adam Wells hit a four-timer for Red Lion, whose other goals came from Chris Thorne (2), James Johnson, Carl Bowers, Mark Bright and John Webb.
Northway’s Dan Lawrence also scored four, with Marvin Martin (2), Adrian Cox, Carl Hibbins, Liam Hatt and Justin Meze completing their tally.
The Division 3B side’s successful penalty-takers were Martin, Cox and Hatt.
Colin Royall hammered five goals as Dorchester United recorded their first win of the campaign by whacking Aynho Athletic 9-4.
Mark Denslow, Paul Jones, Marcus Whiting and a John Boal spot-kick completed the tally to set up a trip to Freeland Yeoman in the next round.
OUP Wanderers produced a late flourish to beat Abba Athletic 4-1 thanks to a spectacular 30-yarder from Alex Garth, plus efforts from Tom Williams (2) and Jack Mort.
Liam Fudge netted for brave Abba.
