UPPER THAMES VALLEY SUNDAY LEAGUE
Johnny James scored a hat-trick for ten-man Sutton Revolution, but he could not stop holders Kings Arms Wheatley reaching the Devenney Cup semi-finals with a 6-3 victory, writes Tim Siret.
Kings Arms’ goals came from Luke Cuff (2), Olly Zaja (2), Benji Cuff and substitute Matty Jacobs, but their spirited opponents hit back through James, who completed his treble from the penalty spot.
Oxford Yellows also reached the semi-finals with a 2-1 win at Rover Cowley thanks to goals from Piers McGlynn and skipper Rocky Whiting.
Luke Bremner headed in for Rover, for whom Dale Macer shone as a stand-in keeper.
In a third-round tie, AFC Hinksey won 3-1 against resilient Division 3 opponents Blacks Head Bletchingdon.
The Premier outfit netted through an own goal plus efforts from Callum Connor and Gavin Preston. Justin Lawrence replied.
AFC Jericho missed a penalty, but still dumped Chalgrove out with a 3-0 success.
All the goals came in the second half from substitute Trevor Mason, Akeem Williams and Aaron Williams.
Leaders Kennington United completed a Division 1 double over title rivals Cross Keys Wallingford with a 2-0 win. John Mills scored twice.
The result sets up what will almost certainly be a championship decider at Mason’s Arms this Sunday.
Milton Midgets fought back from 3-0 down to draw 4-4 at home to Jackass Inn in Division 3B.
Josh Gilsenan (2), Jon Hill and Paddy Reagan netted for Milton, while Jackass’s goals came from Ross Tyler, Lawrence Hoey, Jon Stott and Steve Hedges, who was sent off at the end for foul and abusive language.
