BARTON United edged past AFC Hinksey 2-1 in the battle of Division 1’s top two – in a thrilling game that lived up to expectations, writes TIM SIRET.

Jelroy Constant’s perfectly-timed run and finish put Barton ahead, and 12 minutes later Constant set up Ryan Curtin to fire past keeper Martyn Clarke.

Anaclet Odhiambo then missed a penalty for Hinksey after Craig Pitson was fouled, only for Pitson to make no mistake from the spot minutes later when Odhiambo was felled.

But Barton held on to move ten points clear at the top, though their rivals have games in hand.

Dorchester United had to fight hard for a 2-0 win at Standlake Garage, where Brian Rawlings and Ian Marshall got the goals.

Supersub Steve Skyrme came off the bench and smashed a hat-trick in Kings Arms Wheatley’s 9-0 demolition of Sutton Revolution.

Luke Cuff also grabbed a treble, while Neil Lockhart struck twice, and Benji Cuff completed the rout.

Sean Flaherty and Tom Gaughan both scored twice to help Oxford Yellows crush Kidlington Royals 6-2.

Damo Perks and Steve Gaughan also netted for Yellows, Richard Wells hit both Royal goals.

AFC Cowley followed up last week’s super Sam Waters cup triumph with a 4-1 home win over OUP Wanderers.

Aaron Barrett (2), Daniel Richmond and Nick Thorne also found the net. Steve Doyle hit Wanderers’ consolation.

In Division 2, AFC Woodfarm recorded their 14th win, 7-0 at home to Rutherford Lab.

Lance Williams (2), Ben Green (2), Paul Alder, Drew Fowler and an own goal made up the total.

Ryan White played in goal in the first half for Woodstock Wanderers, then came out on the pitch and scored in a 3-1 win at home to Wallingford Exiles.

Alam Riaz and Liam O’Sullivan also netted for Wanderers. Exiles’ strike came from Dave Woodley.
