Marston's Oxford Sunday League
Barton United left it late to defeat Cold Arbour 3-2 in the President’s Cup final at Court Place Farm and complete the double, writes GEOFF BOWER. Arbour took the lead in the second minute when Wayne Desmond outpaced the Barton defence to thump past the advancing keeper. They doubled their advantage midway through the half when Aaron Williams fired a 30-yard free kick to the top corner. Barton went close before the break, but came out fired up, eventually scoring through Jelroy Constant on 65 minutes. Arbour seemed to have weathered the storm until five minutes from the end when the unfortunate Gary Chapman put through his own goal. With the game heading for extra time, Julian McCalmon (pictured) rose highest to head home a corner and snatch victory for Barton. Cold Arbour Res secured a 4-0 win at Yellow Eagles in the Supplementary Cup, Josh Green (2), Craig Bloomfield and Jordan Gray netting for the visitors. In Division 1, Northway’s makeshift side ran out of steam to lose 9-3 at AFC Hinksey – after leading 2-1 at the break. Anaclet Odihambo led the way with four for Hinksey, Alex Fasoranti (2), Marlon James, Dave Jennings and Stevie Haines completing the rout. Peter Hall netted a brace for Northway and Gareth Williams scored the other.
