AFC Hinksey lifted the Jack Sadler Cup after defeating Riverside 5-4 on penalties, writes GEOFF BOWER.

The game finished 2-2 after extra-time, before Mark Janes was the unlucky man to miss for Riverside, despite scoring from the spot in normal time.

On 20 minutes, a rare burst into the box from Janes saw him brought down and then convert the resulting penalty.

Hinksey’s defence had more to do, but Stevie Haines and Toby Webster were outstanding and keeper Darren Kinch solid.

With the clock ticking down, Hinksey subsititute Craig Pitson was fouled in the box, and Micheas Herbert calmly stroked home the spot kick.

Three minutes into extra time, Pitson rose highest in a crowded penalty area to head home a corner.

However, Riverside weathered the storm and, right on the interval, levelled when Benji Cuff arrived at the far post to head in.

Hinksey’s Dean Simms, Liam Gurdev, man-of-the-match Pitson, Herbert and Gavin Preston all safely tucked their penalties away.

Lenny Sackey, Denel Thomas, Lance Williams and Jamie DeBanks netted for Riverside, but Janes put his shot wide.

In Division 1, AFC Boudika overcame visitors Yellow Eagles 2-0, Olly Zaja grabbing both goals. Mansfield Road were fortunate to win 4-2 at Cold Arbour Reserves in the Supplementary Cup.

Wayne Desmond netted both Arbour goals, but Nick Pothercary, Joel Lazurus, Jonathan George and Scott Hall replied for Mansfield.
