Wallingford Wanderers caused an upset by dumping Division 2 side JP's out in the Ridgeway Cup semi-finals with a 6-4 extra-time victory, writes TIM SIRET.
Mickey Woods and Luke Higgins gave the Division 3B side a comfortable 2-0 lead in the first half.
But a depleted JP's forced extra time when first Neil Smith scored and then Dave Beaven struck with the last kick of normal time.
Wanderers appeared to settle the tie when Nobby Bone, Pete Ashman and Higgins all scored to give their side a 5-2 advantage.
But Tom Ingram and Keith Beaven replied to make it 5-4 as the drama continued.
The turning point of the match came when Wanderers keeper Matt Carter brilliantly saved Smith's penalty and Wallingford then settled the result as Sam Elkins fired home.
Kennington United nearly blew a three-goal lead before securing their place in the final with an exciting 3-2 triumph over Wootton & Dry Sandford.
The Division 3B leaders and cup favourites looked home and dry after taking a 3-0 half-time lead thanks to two goals from Sam Child – both set up by Neil McMahon – and Ben Cripps's 25-yard free-kick.
But Wootton refused to buckle and soon pulled a goal back when Paul Dew pounced to score.
Tom Srawley was then fouled in the box and Tom Radburn converted the spot-kick to set up an exciting finale.
But Kennington, who are in their debut season, held on to secure a final appearance at Abingdon United on April 19.
