Goalkeeper Dan Cox was the hero with three saves in the penalty shoot-out as Star Wanderers beat Oxford Yellows 3-2 on spot-kicks in a thrilling Oxfordshire Sam Waters Sunday Cup final at Oxford City.
The two sides were locked together at 4-4 after a dramatic finish to extra time with Oxford Yellows' David Jennings heading home Josh Mulvany's cross in the final minute.
But Star were not to be denied and Cox's hat-trick of saves - combined with successful penalties by Lee Keyes, John Crump and Tom Jerred - saw them lift the cup.
Craig Hanlon and Rocky Whiting netted from the spot for Yellows.
Star had opened the scoring on the half-hour when Keyes converted a Crump cross.
Jamie Hodges added a second before the break, following up a Darren Maisey free-kick to fire home the rebound after a fine save by Yellows keeper Ryan Davies.
However, Yellows came out revitalized for the second half and had levelled the game within 15 minutes through strikes by Thomas Gaughan and Mulvany.
Despite further chances at both ends, the game went to extra-time with Yellows taking the lead in the first minute through Gaughan's second.
But Star came straight back to level when Simon Hole looped a header over virtually the whole Yellows defence and keeper.
Star took the lead ten minutes later with a 25-yarder from Keyes only for Jennings to grab a last-gasp equaliser and set up the penalty shoot-out.
