Didcot boss Gary Elkins (pictured) said there was no need for his players to feel down after their 1-0 loss to Arlesey Town, writes Jack Johnson.

“The lads don’t need to get their heads down and be disappointed,” said Elkins.

“We’re disappointed because we’ve lost and we would obviously like to go into the next round.

“But we’ve also come much further than we have ever done before so, they’ve got to be really proud of themselves for their achievement – and push on for the league.

“First half, we didn’t play as well as we have done.

“But in the second half we played a lot better and had a lot of possession and I think that a draw would have been a fair result based on the chances we had.

“We had a lot of possession, but we didn’t pepper the goal. We created a few half chances and the final bit of quality wasn’t always there.”

He added: “The players probably feel as though they’ve let the club and themselves down a little bit but they haven’t.”

“I think the belief from the Maidenhead game made us say it was winnable, but the reality is they are a league above, a big strong side and unfortunately they beat us.”
