Didcot Town manager Gary Elkins is backing his side to continue their adventure at home to Arlesey Town in tomorrow’s fourth qualifying round.

Since he took over at the end of August, his Division 1 South & West side have lost just one of their last ten games and Elkins says there is no reason why Didcot can’t beat their Premier Division opponents.

He said: “I don’t want top sound disrespectful to Arlesey, but when the draw was made I thought ‘that’s winnable’.

“But they will be thinking the same about us. It’s going to be a real battle, a high tempo game.

“Both sides will be going for it because there is the thought of playing a League One or League Two side if you get through.

“It’s the biggest game that Didcot have played since they won the FA Vase (a 3-2 win against AFC Sudbury in 2005).”

Didcot will give a late fitness test to forward Morgan Williams who missed Tuesday’s 5-1 win at Woodford United in the Red Insure Cup first round with an ankle injury.

Elkins said their midweek trip to the Central Division side had been valuable.

“I was really pleased with the result and the way we played.

“We made a few changes and brought in a couple of young lads like Tom Browne, Taylor Janes and Lewis Noble, who played really well.

“That means I have got three players that I can rely on to come into the first-team squad that I did not have before.

The trio are added to a squad, boosted by the return of midfielder Brian Bowles from an ankle problem.

Elkins added: “It’s massive for a club like ours and the game on Saturday can’t come around quickly enough.

“Everyone is looking forward to it. For some of the players, it’s the biggest game they have played.

“The run is going to end sometime, so you have to enjoy it while you can.”
