A YOUTHFUL Didcot Town eased into the second round of the Southern League’s Red Insure Cup with a resounding 5-1 win at Division 1 Central side Woodford United last night.
Elliot Osborne-Ricketts’s first half penalty was followed by a brace from Pablo Haysham, a first goal for the club from Lewis Noble, and a late header from player-coach Ian Concannon – his 285th goal for the Railwaymen.
Aaron Hinds scored a last-minute consolation for Woodford.
Substitute John Mills fired home on 74 minutes to earn North Leigh a 2-1 victory at Banbury United.
Ben Polk had put Banbury ahead on 52 minutes after a great solo run and shot.
But home skipper Jack Ashton fouled Jimmy Deabill in the box on 69 minutes and Stuart Hole scored the resulting penalty.
Abingdon United surrendered a 3-2 lead to lose 5-3 at home to Daventry Town.
Toby Nowell’s cross was deflected in to give Abingdon the lead after 45 seconds.
Trevor McCreadie headed home an equaliser before Ross Oulton pounced to give Daventry the lead.
Abingdon’s Sam Tucker and Carl Self struck on 21 and 23 minutes as the goal fest continued.
McCreadie completed his hat-trick with strikes on 47 and 65 minutes before Scott Cross wrapped up Daventry’s win late on with a 20-yard thunderbolt that went in off the bar.
