Dave Cresswell maintained his top striking form with a brace as Oxford Hawks moved up to third spot in Premier Divison 1 with a 3-1 victory at home to London Wayfarers.
Hawks took an early lead when Cresswell, who scored five times against West Hampstead last week, converted a short corner. With keeper Dave Jones keeping Wayfarers at bay with some fine saves, Hawks went further ahead with a far post deflection by Cresswell from Ric Corbett’s backhand cross.
In the second half, a momentary lapse in defence allowed Wayfarers to pull back a goal.
But Hawks, who had dictated much of the play, sealed the result ten minutes from time when, after a good move, Corbett was upended by the Wayfarer's keeper.
Charlie Ellison despatched the penalty flick to complete a comfortable victory.
