Banbury Utd 1
(Lorraine 43)
Weymouth 3
(Critchell 7, Joyce 34, 65)
Banbury United lost their unbeaten home Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division record with another disappointing display at Spencer Stadium.
The Puritans were indebted to a goal-line clearance by Jack Ashton in the sixth minute, only to fall behind 60 seconds later.
They failed to clear their lines and a left-wing cross from the bye-line was converted at the near post by Weymouth fullback Kyle Critchell to give the visitors an early lead.
Banbury then laid siege to the Weymouth goal for the next half-hour, with Kynan Isaac and Adeylinka Talabi being thwarted by Terras goalkeeper Simon Evans.
However, United were caught on the break in the 34th minute as Weymouth doubled their lead when Ben Joyce placed the ball wide of young Matthew Gill.
Two minutes before the break, Banbury pulled a goal back with Tom Lorraine smashing home a Talabi cross.
With Igor Coronado being replaced by Harold Agyeman-Prempeh at half-time, Banbury lost their first-half spark after the break.
And when Joyce scored his second and Weymouth’s third goal in the 65th minute, there was no way back.
Banbury’s misery was complete when Marvin Martin was sent off for two yellow cards with ten minutes left.
Banbury Utd: Gill, Cray, Martin, Blossom, Ashton, Talabi, Bridges (Plowright 81), Polk, Lorraine, Coronado (Agyeman-Prempeh HT), Isaac. Subs not used: Ryan, Dumbleton, Cross.
Attendance: 352.
