OXFORDSHIRE Under 13s began their Shires League campaign with a 19-1 victory over Berkshire at Eynsham.
The team of Cameron Ferguson, Ethan Rose, Jamie Cackett, Charlie Shan, Saffy Gujral, Maisie Boyd, Safia Khimji and Saania Jayawant dominated their opponents with straight set wins. Oxon’s Under 15s went down 12-8 to Buckinghamshire at Milton Keynes.
- FARINGDON’S Andrew Brockie and Chilton’s Harry Brewis won silver medals in boys’ doubles at the Badminton England under 17 silver tournament held in Warwick.
They beat Kristian Plender and Tom Saunders, of Surrey, in their semi-final 15-13, 11-15, 16-14.
- SIBLINGS Alison Ross and Adrian Brown teamed up to seal a dramatic 7-6 victory for Oxfordshire Over 40s against Worcestershire in the Masters County Championships Midlands West Division.
Oxon’s team of Chris Burden, Lee Ackrell, Brown, John Boyd, Ross, Laura Hicks, Alison Fields and Jackie Yeulet were 6-3 down with only the mixed doubles to play.
But debutant Ross, playing with her brother, won the final match 25-23 in the third game to seal Oxfordshire’s victory.
