After nearly going to the wall during the summer, the popular Oxford Mail Cross Country League gets under way with the traditional curtain-raiser at Ascott-under-Wychwood on Sunday.
Headington Roadrunner Steve Kimber will be hot favourite to retain the title he won at a canter last season.
Last season, Headington romped to the team title, but could find the challenge of Woodstock Harriers and Witney Roadrunners a little stiffer this time around, with Witney in particular boasting some new faces.
It will be tough to bet against Cirencester's Wendy Jones landing the overall ladies title again, but the form of White Horse Harrier Frances Briscoe in taking the senior title last season would suggest that she can challenge for top honours.
In the junior age groups, Melissa Hawtin makes the step up to the under 15 girls' competition having won the under 13 title last year.
Four new clubs enter the league this season, with Didcot Runners, Marlborough, Newbury and Goring & Wallingford all set to make their debuts.
Newbury come fresh from their victory in the Wessex Cross Country League last season, but being newcomers, will be placed in Division 3.
