OXFORD University director of rugby Steve Hill says his team raised their game against Bristol.
Despite not scoring for a second match, Hill was failry satisfied with their 21-0 defeat at Clifton on Monday.
He said: "In the first half I thought we did really well. The whole performance was a big step up from last week against Wasps.
"That Bristol 15 wasn't that much weaker than the side Wasps fielded.
"I think our defence coped really well under pressure, although both sides struggled to hold on to the ball in the conditions.
"In the second half, we said we wanted to play with high field position and make them make mistakes. We did that, but couldn't quite score.
"Certainly the guys believe that the catch-and-drive in the second half was a try.
"The most frustrating thing was letting Bristol break out and score at the end.
Hill added: "I think Bristol were quite surprised by how we did. They thought we would get blown away, but they had to work very hard."
*NEIL Back, Richard Cockerill and Pat Howard will play for Major Stanley's against Oxford University on November 22.
The Leicester coaching trio are the biggest names to sign up so far for the showpiece match.
*LOCK Richard Graham could be out "for weeks" after injuring his ankle in the warm-up for the Bristol game, while scrum half James Gill fractured a finger.
