Bradley Smith put a miserable qualifying campaign behind him to finish a creditable 12th in the final race of the 125cc Grand Prix season in Spain.
The Wheatley youngster, who is just 15, crashed in both qualifying sessions riding his Repsol Honda.
He finally qualified in 23rd place for the 24-lap race, where his fortunes changed dramatically.
He charged through the field to finish an impressive 12th in the race won by Spaniard Hector Faubel.
Smith finished an impressive joint 18th in his first year of World Championship racing.
