Speculation that Oxford Cheetahs co-promoter Aaron Lanney, who sold the club to Peterborough owner Colin Horton a few weeks ago, would not have a role to play next season has been dispelled.
Horton insists Lanney is going nowhere.
The new chief has appointed Trevor Swales as general manager and Colin Meredith as meeting co-ordinator, which fuelled speculation over Lanney's future But Horton said: "Aaron is, and will remain, a promoter at Oxford. All the hard work he put in last season has given us a stepping stone for next season."
Lanney, I understand, will concentrate on the marketing side of things next year and as a co-promoter will play a full part in the club's activities.
Meanwhile, Horton will employ the services of track curator Meredith at both of his Elite League venues next season.
Meredith has agreed to take over the work at both Peterborough and Oxford, having left Belle Vue.
The Speedway Control Board's track inspector, he travels throughout the country to make recommend- ations about every UK circuit.
He has been with the Aces for two years and made several improvements to the Kirkmanshulme Lane circuit, particularly to the drainage.
Peterborough, in particular, have had a host of different track curators in recent years, including Meredith himself in 2003.
He has also previously worked at Oxford
