Banbury Utd 2, Rugby Tn 3
BANBURY'S roller-coaster of a Premier Division campaign continued on Saturday when they threw away a two-goal lead to lose at home.
Following a goalless first half, the game exploded into action, four minutes after the break when George Redknap received the ball some 25 yards out and unleashed a thunderous volley that flew into the net.
Banbury increased their lead when Darren Pond stroked the ball home from a narrow angle after good work by Andy Baird, Howard Forinton and Ady Fuller.
In the 63rd minute, the young Rugby side pulled a goal back through David Stone, who beat a stranded Alan Judge from 15 yards.
The visitors equalised in the 70th minute, following a protracted goalmouth scramble, with Willis Francis nodding the ball home.
Rugby's winning goal came in the 88th minute when Matt Gearing let fly from a narrow angle - with the outside of his foot - a 25-yard shot that would have beaten any keeper in the land.
