Banbury Borough captured the new Summertown Trophy in the round-robin tournament at Banbury Chestnuts.

Borough’s rink of Keith Holloway, Mick Redman, Richard Redford and Mark Sykes came out on top of ten Oxfordshire teams, who battled it out for what was formerly known as the Evenlode Trophy.

All teams played each other over seven ends, with Borough and Witney Town setting the early pace by being unbeaten in their opening four matches.

The Banbury four went on to secure the title by an impressive margin with a comfortable victory over Headington B, which gave them a +39-shot total.

Carterton B edged out Banbury Chestnuts for the runners-up spot and the Astall Ley Trophy (named after the former competition organisers) on shots scored.

KEVIN Alder and Paul Skidmore lifted the KD Bailey Memorial Trophy, sponsored by Cooper Constructions Ltd, with a 23-11 victory over Peter Maisey and Shaun Cooper in the final at West Witney.

HEADINGTON A bid to complete a third successive double when they take on Oxford City & County A in the Oxford & District League Cup final under the Kidlington floodlights tonight.
