Oxfordshire Senioe League Premier Division champions OUP were given a real scare before getting the new season off to a winning start.

Danny Taylor’s strike put Freeland 1-0 ahead at half-time, only for OUP to find their shooting boots after the break.

They eventually ran out 6-1 victors, thanks to Jimmy Gray (2), Craig Pitson, Neil Lockhard, Andy Gray and Craig Greenough.

Ryan Coles converted a Joe Cook free-kick to give Garsington a 1-0 win over Horspath.

Oakley fought back from a 4-1 half-time deficit to draw 4-4 at Eynsham in a lively Division 1 clash that also saw three red cards.

Andy Glossop’s hat-trick and Tom McCudden’s strike put Eynsham in control, but strikes from James Keeble (2), Chris Davies and an Kris Clarke own goal earned Oakley a point.

Ross Lewington was sent off for a professional foul for Eynsham early in the second half, and then two more red cards followed when Tom Ollie and Oakley’s James Sutton clashed.

Both sides were frustrated at the dismissals, however, describing the incident as ‘handbags’.

Northway keeper Christian Lawrence made a fantastic double save in the dying minutes to ensure his side shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw with Chalgrove.

Goals from Josh Carr, Nathan Holt and Lewis Welby put Northway 3-1 ahead deep into the second half, but Simon Godfrey (2) and James Quainton drew the sides level, before Lawrence’s late saves preserved a point.

Andrew Boyles, Luke Grady and Alan Haynes were on target as Middleton Cheney beat Watlington 3-1, for whom Julian Pitts replied.

Long Crendon raced into a 3-0 lead at Yarnton thanks to efforts from Josh Lunn, Richard Jewell and Martin Dawson.

Although Ethan Penny and Adam Harper made it 3-2, Crendon held on for victory.

In the only Division 2 clash, Adderbury Park Res thumped Launton Sports Res 4-0 thanks to Dan Atkins, Charlie Meredith, John Danby and Tom Green.
