Didcot Town began life after the abrupt departure of manager Dave Mudge with a 2-0 defeat at Cirencester in Southern League Division 1 South & West at the Corinium Stadium.
With Mudge having quit on Thursday night due to personal reasons, an interim management team of Gary Elkins, Richard Peirson and Ian Concannon took charge.
Cirencester opened the scoring in ther 15th minute when Ben Wells clipped in a free-kick from the right and Jamie Reid thumped a header beyond keeper Marcos Belloli.
Reid spurned an opportunity to double Cirencester’s advantage, before James Clark missed an even better chance for Didcot, shooting wide with only keeper Matt Bath to beat.
Pablo Haysham, Brian Bowles and Morgan Williams all failed to capitalise on half chances.
And Didcot were made to pay when the hosts struck again early in the second half when Sam Collier finished neatly from Aiden Bennett’s cross.
Clark missed a late chance for Didcot, but by then the damage had been done.
Didcot Tn: Belloli, Heapy, Owens (Stanley 55), Henderson, Thomas, L Williams, Elkins (Tappin 78), Bowles, Clark, Haysham (Osborne-Ricketts 55), M Williams.
Attendance: 105.
