Dave Mudge, who took Didcot Town to the FA Trophy first round for the first time in their history last season, has resigned as first team manager.

Mudge, who had been boss of the Railwaymen for almost a year, cited personal reasons for his decision.

He said: “It is with great sadness that I have reached a decision to resign from the post with immediate effect. The main reason is the impact it is having on my business.”

An interim management team of ex-Fulham, Swindon Town and Wimbledon star Gary Elkins alongside Richard Peirson and Ian Concannon have been asked to take charge while the club consider their options.

Didcot will be without Lee Henderson (back/hamstring) when they visit Cirencester Town in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West tomorrow.

Abingdon United boss Richie Bourne says keeper James Foster should be concentrating on getting his game right and not clearing off on holiday.

After excelling at Tiverton on the opening day of the Division 1 South & West campaign, Bourne says Foster’s form has dipped.

“I am more than happy to give him the credit when it’s due, but he has not played well in the last couple of games,” said Bourne. “He has shown an air of vulnerability and fallen below the standards he has set himself.

“His decision-making was spot on at Tiverton, but at Didcot on Saturday (Abingdon lost 2-1) Fozzie made a mistake with their first goal when he put the ball into his own net.

“He made a mistake for the second goal where he has misjudged a cross. “He should be head-down, working with me at training, not going on holiday. He needs to wise-up.

“Curtis Angell and Stuart Young have also gone on holiday which leaves me with big problems.”

Ex-Witney Town keeper Karel Loos replaces Foster, while new signing, former Thatcham forward Karl Self, could make his debut at home to Evesham. Simeon Howell (ankle) is out.

North Leigh boss Mark Gee says his side have to learn to kill teams off, starting with the trip to Merthyr Town.

The Millers have scored 15 goals in four games, but conceded seven.

They led 4-0 against Abingdon United, only to let slip three goals .

“When you are 4-0 up you have to kill the opposition off. We did that against Thame (a 6-0 win) and we have to do that at Merthyr.”

Stuart Hole (away) misses out.
