Carterton's Stuart Richens reached the last 16 of the National Two Wood Singles Championship at Worthing before bowing out.

He opened up with an 18-6 win over Ross On Wye’s Glyn Williams, before squeezing past West Ealing’s John Carey 15-14 in the second round.

But he then went out 15-8 to Tristan Morton (White Hart Warboys, Huntingdonshire) in round three.

Banbury Borough’s Mark Sykes eased past Tim Summerfield (Maulden, Beds) 17-7 in the first round, before going out 15-12 to Gary Robson (Leadgate, Durham).

Didcot’s Dale Hall beat Russ Francis (Spencer Moulton, Wiltshire) 18-9 in the preliminary round, but then lost 17-7 to Grant Howland (Topsham, Devon).

Carterton’s Alan Prew suffered an agonising 21-20 defeat by Keith Holman (Lindfield, Surrey) in the National Singles Championship second round.

He had opened up with a 21-18 victory over North London’s Chris Cleaver.

Sykes went out in the preliminary round 21-7 to Darren Griffith (Cowes Medina, Isle of Wight) in the preliminary round.

Michael Linn, of the Morland club at East Hendred, fell at the same stage 21-9 to Graham Robinson (Godalming & Farncombe, Surrey).
