Abingdon United boss Andy Slater has spoken of his delight after he signed former Wycombe Wanderers striker Jermaine McSporran.
The former Oxford City frontman (pictured), who started his career at Abingdon Town, will make his debut in tomorrow's home game against Southern League Division 1 South & West leaders Taunton Town.
After being released by League 2 side Chester City in the summer he joined Hellenic League outfit Kidlington before moving to Southern League Premier Division side Banbury United.
He played five games for the Puritans after being signed as cover for injured striker Andy Baird.
However, when the frontman made a quicker than expected return, he was surplus to requirements.
"It's a big coup for us," said Slater.
"He has nine or ten years playing as a professional.
"Our squad is very inexperienced and he will be good for us. He's an experienced lad and this wil give us the impetus to kick on."
Richard Peirson (calf strain) is doubtful, while Ryan Brooks is serving a ban.
"I saw Taunton play at Banbury on Tuesday and they got a spanking," Slater added. "But we're not reading too much into that. I'm hoping there won't be a backlash."
Striker Ian Concannon faces a late fitness test on a hamstring strain ahead of Didcot Town's home game against strugglers Uxbridge.
Jamie Brooks (groin) and Paul Powell, who had a tooth out on Wednesday, are 50-50.
Oxford United loanee Andrew Gunn returns after being cup-tied for their FA Trophy win at Thatcham.
Oxford City will be without goalkeeper Carl Wilkins (ankle) and Matty Glynn for their trip to Beaconsfield SYCOB.
Lewis Craker and Aaron Williams should return, though there is an injury doubt over Mark Jones.
Ray Spence serves a one-match ban under the tottting up system.
Banbury United boss Kevin Brock is looking to use Tuesday night's FA Trophy thrashing of Taunton as a springboard for league success, starting with the visit of Premier Division derby rivals Rugby Town.
"If we get anywhere near to what we were on Tuesday that would be very good," said Brock.
"Performance-wise, I am happy. We have been playing well, but giving away silly goals. Hopefully, we're over those setbacks."
