SOPHIE Carter and Darrell Bellinger sealed their maiden Mota-Vation Series titles with victories in the delayed first round at Charlton-on-Otmoor.

Carter, the 33-year-old Woodstock Harrier, completed her fourth win in four races, so cannot be overhauled.

Oxford City’s Bellinger, 27, now has two victories, a second and a third place, which means no other man can overtake him either.

Abingdon Marathon champion Carter clocked 24mins exactly for the 4.1-mile course, finishing 75 seconds ahead of second-placed Diane Moore (Headington Road Runners).

Bellinger took first place at Charlton in 20.28 ahead of James Bolton (Woodstock), who clocked 20.58 for second and was the only man with a chance of denying him the title.

The series concludes tonight with round five in Oxford where City and Headington are set to be crowned men’s and ladies’ team champions.

Moore clocked 25.15 for second at Charlton and was the first vet 35 lady, while Headington clubmate Taine Lyng was third in 26.09.

There was also a fine effort from 66-year-old Eynsham Road Runner Kate William-son, who came 16th in 29.49.

This not only saw her win the vet 55 category, but also defeat all the vet 45 ladies as well!

The vet 45 prize went to Eynsham’s Jacqueline Pinnock in 30.00, with Abingdon Ambler Cordelia Parker the under 19 ladies’ winner in 29.46.

Kieran White (Hercules Wimbledon) was the third man home in 21.42, while Chris Riley (Bedford & County) took the first vet 40 honours in 22.24.

Oxford City completed a veterans’ double with Richard Grant (24.59) and Stewart Thorp (25.37) claiming the 50 and 60 categories respectively.

Abingdon’s Alex Vessey was the first under 19 man home in 24.24.
