LLOYD Sabin hit a superb century and Ollie Wright took five wickets as Banbury moved up to second place with a 196-run victory over Welwyn Garden City in Division 1.

Opener Sabin, who scored 95 against Oxford last week, was out for 101 off 124 balls, which included 18 fours and a six.

Nathan Hawkes (75) provided good support, with Richard West (47) and Craig Haupt (35) also chipping in as Banbury amassed 308-6 off 62 overs.

Wright and West then starred with the ball as Welwyn were bowled out for 112.

Wright finished with 5-51 off 16 overs and West 3-5 off 1.5 as Banbury seized on Tring’s defeat against Henley to move second.

However, with leaders High Wycombe picking up eight points in their abandoned match against Burnham, Banbury are 37 points off top spot, with securing the runners-up berth now their priority.
