A controversial opening goal paved the way for the Morrells of Oxford Sunday League's representative side to record a 2-1 victory over the West Middlesex Sunday League at Morris Motors.
Matthew Hambridge, one of eight Nelson FC players in the side, scored direct from a long throw-in after three minutes. The ball bounced in off the bar, but touched no-one else and should not have been allowed.
Middlesex equalised after 35 minutes following a mistake by Oxford keeper Darren Kinch.
Just before half-time, Liam O'Callaghan restored Oxford's lead with a cracking 18-yard shot.
The home side's Anaclet Odhiambo had a goal disallowed in the second half, when Kinch atoned for his error by making some key saves.
