BanburyUnited turned on the style to beat Taunton Town 5-1 in their FA Trophy qualifying round replay last night to earn a trip to Marlow in the next round.
They went into the lead after seven minutes. Robin Woodward brought down Andy Baird in the penalty area and Ady Fuller stepped up to convert the spot kick.
The Puritans extended their lead on 14 minutes when a mix-up in the Taunton defence allowed leading goalscorer Howart Forinton to slot in.
But Banbury were caught when Sonyo De Mata took the ball past defenders to fire into the right-hand corner.
Forinton was thwarted by keeper Ian Jones. Yet it soon became 3-1 with Stuart Bridges finishing off a superb swivel by blasting home.
Banbury's first chance of the second half came when Fuller went down the right touchline and crossed to Darren Pond, whose shot flew over the bar.
De Mata miskicked a good opportunity wide before it became 4-1 when a great through ball from Pond released Jon Gardner, who took it into the area and fired home. A minute later, a possibly miffed Gardner was substituted!
Goal No 5 came from a superb solo run by Tony Kinch.
Marlow beat Andover 2-1 in their FA Trophy replay.
