TROUT anglers have found the Farmoor II reservoir, near Oxford, on blistering form over the last few weeks.
Senior warden Paul Doherty said daily rod averages had been between 3.5 and 5.5, with the vast majority of fish still being caught on dry fly and emergers, with diawl bachs, buzzers and wets also scoring well.
He said: "Daddy long legs and hoppers are producing lots of takes, but not so many hook-ups. It is far better to fish something like a bob's bits, or snatcher, that sits deeper in the surface film.
"Boobies fished deep are starting to work well again, with the better 2lb+ fish being caught mainly on these.
"It is still very quiet on the fry-bashing front, which is normal for Farmoor. We don't ever see much evidence of fry feeding until we have a week or two of hard frosts and lower water temperatures."
