Witney United striker Jamie Cook was praised for his sportsmanship in a low-key 1-1 draw against Shrivenham, enlivened by a dramatic period in the second half.
In the first minute, Cook's shot went through a small hole in the side-netting. The referee awarded a goal, and after furious protests from the visiting players he discussed with his assistant who confirmed the decision.
However, Cook intervened and admitted the ball had gone wide.
Shrivenham took the lead against the run of play, when Terry Bohane fired into the corner of the net.
Witney had to wait until the 64th minute before equalising. Matty Shelton delivered an inch-perfect cross to Lee Keyes, who peeled away before firing home.
On the hour, Shrivenham were awarded a penalty, when Richard Knox went down easily, but Witney keeper Paul Tassell ensured justice was done by saving Scott Lane's spot-kick.
The game erupted when a late challenge by John McMahon went unpunished, and Shrivenham's Jon Peters took matters into his own hands by head-butting McMahon, leaving the referee no option but to send him off.
