Former teammates of Ian Tucker will be in Oxford today to mark the tenth anniversary of his untimely death.
Tucker, an Australian centre, was playing for Oxford University at Saracens on October 26, 1996 when he collapsed on the field after receiving a heavy blow to the head.
He never regained consciousness and died two days later in hospital.
A group of Tucker's playing peers, including fly half Tim Jensen and hooker Nick Hockley, will have lunch at Vincents and watch the Dark Blues take on London Wasps at Iffley Road.
Tucker was a Major Stanley's scholar, who previously studied at Sydney University and played for Stanley's against Oxford in 1995.
Oxford director of rugby Steve Hill said: "Ian's father and step mum had the statue made, which now sits outside the pavilion.
"Each year the Blues player-of-the-year award is given in his name. His parents also set up a scholarship, which is available for graduate rugby players who attend Keble.
"This season Winston Cowie from Otago is the recipient of support as well as Peter Jenkins."
