Horspath Hammers’ thoughts will be with team manager Robyn Carter when they take on Wednesfield Aces in the semi-final of the British Team Championship in Hull tomorrow (11am).

Carter is in Oxford’s Churchill Hospital where he is being treated for cancer and his team are desperately keen to retain the trophy for him.

Victory against the Aces, who are strengthened by the return of Welsh international Ben Mould, would see them face either Leicester or Ipswich in the final (3.30pm).

Horspath, who will be without Polish star Matty Szymczak (ineligible) for the trip North, warmed up with back-to-back BCTG Elite League wins.

On Saturday, they beat leaders Sheffield 92-90 at the village track, before the next day winning 96-83 at Wednesfield.
