Pastor Maldonado ripped into Lewis Hamilton after their latest on-track bust-up, although was later found to be the guilty party.

The driver, from the Grove-based Williams team, collided with Hamilton on the penultimate lap of yesterday’s race ending the Englishman’s involvement.

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso won the race after after Sebastian Vettel retired with an alternator failure, with Kimi Raikkonen, in the Enstone-based Lotus second, and Mercedes’ Michael Schumacher third.

Correctly holding his line as Maldonado attempted to pass around the outside of Hamilton, the Venezuelan ran off the track.

When Maldonado rejoined, he ran into the side of Hamilton’s McLaren, forcing him off and out of the race.

“I tried to pass him (Hamilton), we were side by side into turn 12,” said Maldonado.

“I braked on the clean side, but he started to push me off the track. I tried to avoid the accident, but I took the kerb and jumped over him.

“He made a very aggressive move on me. He tried to put me off the track, which was a big risk for him.”

However, the stewards, handed the 27-year-old a retrospective drive-through penalty, adding 20 seconds to his elapsed race time, costing him his tenth place.

That saw his teammate Bruno Senna gain a point.

Hamilton said: “I’ve had a bad day in the office.

“You put your heart and soul into some things, and when you don’t get the result you feel you worked for it’s very tough.

“That’s racing. You just have to suck it up and move forward, and there are many races to go.”

Lotus’s Romain Grosjean had to retire on lap 40 with mechanical problems when in third.

Vitaly Petrov and Heikki Kovalainen, from the Leafield-based Caterham team, finished 13th and 14th respectively.
