Owain Jones hit an unbeaten half-century as Oxford University recovered well on the first day of this year’s Varsity Match in The Parks.
Jones will resume on 77 not out as Oxford reached 171-4 at yesterday’s close of play.
Things did not look great when Sam Agarwal and Ben Williams departed early on as the hosts were reduced to 20-2.
However, Ben Jeffery and Rajiv Sharma steadied the ship, the latter sharing an 84-run partnership with Jones before he fell lbw to Paul Best.
Jones’s 77 runs have so far come off 131 balls, and include ten fours and a six.
