Jason Plato will be trying to achieve his first win for six years at the Croft racetrack in North Yorkshire when he competes in the latest rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship this weekend.

Plato, who lives in Oxford, but was brought up in the north east, will be hoping to get his title ambitions on track when he returns to his roots.

He lost the leadership when his normally reliable KX Momentum Racing’s MG6 failed to start the first race at Oulton Park two weeks ago.

Even though Plato finished second third in the other two races, he dropped to third spot behind Scotland’s Gordon Shedden and his teammate Matt Neal.

All three drivers have achieved double victories at Croft during their careers, although Plato has not sprayed the victory champagne there since 2006.

Meadows, driving for Redline Racing, from just up the road in Stockton-on-Tees, faces strong challenges from Yorkshire drivers, Sam Tordoff, Daniel Lloyd and Richard Plant.

l CHIPPING Norton driver Fergus Walkinshaw wil be hoping to improve on his two eighth-placed finishes last time out when he competes in the Michelin Ginetta GT SuperCup at Croft.
